Introduction to Water Management Course

This course teaches the fundamental principles involved in promoting an efficient use of water in both rainfed and irrigated agriculture. Participants will benefit from theoretical information about making the best use of available water, while also gaining practical information about plot-scale practices that serve to enhance soil water retention, increase the capture of rainwater, and maximize irrigation efficiency.

What you will learn:

  • Recognise that water is limited, and its use can be optimised in both rainfed and irrigated plots
  • Explain how much water moves through the soil and crops
  • Describe how much water plants require
  • Make changes to soil and plot to promote water retention
  • Diagnose common plant issues related to water management
  • Innovate on context-specific practices based on the principles learned

Why CABI created the Introduction to Bioprotection Products Course

CABI designed the Introduction to Water Management Course to support teachers, trainers and practitioners in agricultural education institutions and the workplace. They provide interactive exercises and resources to help participants learn about efficient use of water in both rainfed and irrigated agriculture.

The materials work equally well for self-study, as they provide all the information and context required.

We believe that digital media can complement other traditional forms of training to deliver high-quality, more accessible, self-paced and adaptive learning that will help learners acquire and implement skills to make them more productive.
